1. Ministry of
Health (MOH)
MOH, with 215 hospitals and more than
1900 health centers under its direct
control, is the single largest buyer of
all health care related products. MOH makes
all major purchases of capital equipments
and other requirements through open-bid
tender system. Large part of MOH requirements
for the pharmaceuticals, laboratory reagents
and supplies are procured through regional
tender issued by the Secretariat General
for Health Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation
Council. This tender is also known as 'SGH
Tender'.
2. Institutional
Hospitals
This market segment includes hospitals
under the control of different ministries
(other than MOH) and other government
agencies, such as: Ministry of Defense,
Education, National Guards, Security Forces,
etc. There are nearly 40 hospitals in this market segment.
These hospitals are tertiary care hospitals,
equipped with sophisticated technology and
routinely perform advanced surgical procedures
such as open hear surgeries, organ transplants,
etc.
3. Private Sector
This is the growing market segment. There
are more than 120 modern hospitals, 1050
poly clinics, 400 private clinics and more
than 4450 pharmacies around the kingdom.
